Here are a few things we saw around the web and think you should check out!

• Mami from Tofugu wrote an article about why calling someone chibi can be cute, but it can also be offensive. She explains the origin of the word chibi and how it’s depicted in the Japanese culture.

• The Japan News reported that the government from Kumamoto prefectural started construction of a large-scale temporary housing complex for quake victims in Mashiki, which was hit by two earthquakes that caused a large number of houses to collapse.

• In Crunchyroll News, Trash Studio has announced the passing of Makiko Futaki, a veteran animator who worked on key animation for all of Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli movies and most of Isao Takahata’s. 

• Rocket News 24 wrote an article about a video created by Christoph Gelep called “Hello Tokyo”. The video depicts a whirlwind tour of some of Tokyo’s best sightseeing spots as well as featuring the kind of everyday scenes that visitors to this gargantuan city find so enchanting.
